in a old fashion magazine cover there is usually black and white and they were like thin paper almost. they also have a book like layout to them. ant they also had small illustrations on them and they were for decorative purposes. some covers might have an illustration with a symbolic meaning. other times they didn't have any symbolic meanings behind it. in these they might have talked about music, humor art and etc.
a poster cover was mainly used to create memorable memories. they sometimes looked as if they were framed and hung on the wall like a piece of art almost and were over sized.
on a picture married type magazine cover relied heavily on lines. this is so they they could drawl people in to the magazine. later on in history they started t include dialogue. they started to make big titles and have a model kind of overlapping it. they also included a model making a "full pose". and they also would have word on all sides of the cover. it also depends on the way that the picture is put because it can create depth. and  most of the time they don't include the topic of there articles .
in a magazine cover for forest of words the covers were just as important as cover art. some covers included lines that were actually bigger than the name of the magazine. on today's covers of magazines  there are mostly celebrities, fashion, and more. the magazine might talk about music, global media and things that are relevant in the media.
